Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your path Proverbs 3:5-6
God is not asking us to have it all figured out, He is simply asking us to trust.
I’ll be honest, trust is one of my biggest struggles. Many times in my life I have questioned if I can truly put my trust in God. I’ve been through some pretty terrible things, but when I look back I see that God was with me through each and every one of them. I can see His hand guiding me even when it seemed like He’d abandoned me, I can see his plan had a purpose and I can see that He was always writing a bigger story.
But what is it about trust that just when you think you have it down, a storm hits, and you forget all about it? It’s a lesson I’ve had to learn over and over. Instead of fighting trust, I have to give it all up and become vulnerable and allow God to fill my life with His peace that passes understanding.
Trust is not about having the perfect path planned and plotted, true trust is having faith even when your logic tells you not too. When you can trust despite what your emotions and circumstances are telling you, that is when you will find renewed hope, strength and peace for today.
As I reflect on trust there are so many areas where I do not allow my heart to trust. Today I’m working on giving all those areas to God, I want to create space for his beautiful plan not mine. Not knowing the path is scary but it is even scarier trusting in yourself. Let’s trust God for all things, no matter how big or small, then let’s wait for that peace that passes all understanding to give comfort to our weary souls.
