Find Your Passion,

I recently spoke to a group of women and the question I posed to them was what is one thing you “wish” you could do. Everyone in the room stood up and mentioned everything from starting their own business, to traveling abroad, visiting each state in the US, to getting back into rodeo, adventure, you name it. I found myself tearing up as they were going around the room, I could not contain it, it was so inspiring!

And I kept thinking, how am I going to stand up (because I was a part of this too) and share that my wishes and dreams were coming true, just being in that room with awesome women and being able to share my story, something I had dreamed about for years was my wishes coming true.

I had spent years helping Scotty tell his story and I loved that, it was an honor to watch him grow and heal and inspire thousands, but here I was just a few months after launching my own web-site and business in conjunction with Hope Unseen, and I was asked to share “my story”, “our story” it was nothing short of a dream come true for me. I was crying before I even got up to speak. I love being inspired by others. If I can chase my dreams and fulfill my wishes from rock bottom than I know anyone can. Here are 3 truths that have worked for me time and time again. Whenever I get off track or distracted I always circle back to these 3 principles and it brings me right back to where I need to be: Right back to place where I know I can accomplish my dreams and wishes.

  1. Firstly, Be genuine. If you believe in yourself, other people will too. Dig deep and find the faith to believe that you can accomplish whatever you’ve set your mind to. When I get distracted or discouraged I go back to my purpose. Why did I start this journey? Why am I the right person for this job? And what is the next step?
  2. Plan, plan, plan. Ok, full disclosure, this one doesn’t come naturally to me, but I quickly realized that I can’t do everything I need to if I don’t organize my life well.  Meetings, setting up childcare, house cleaning, answering emails, carpool, they are all small things but they have to be dealt with and I’ve found if I didn’t take the time to schedule it all out, I simply don’t have time to grow my passion. One of the best things I did was start an organization system for my family and me. And yes, planning gets old, sometimes I get really burnt out with the constant reminders, events, and alerts, that’s when I know I need a take a break. Take a day off, go to the spa, sit in Starbucks, whatever!! Just try to find a way to feel refreshed go back to solid planning.
  3. Motivation. Let’s be honest motivation comes and goes, you might start out feeling very ready to take on the world and empowered to make every last dream come true, but then life happens and you can see it dwindle day by day. We are all human and we get tired and run down so make sure you have people around you that will encourage you when the going gets tough. Find a way to connect with others; plan a girls night, start a book club with other entrepreneurs, network, find a mentor or business coach. We need each other. When I’m feeling unmotivated, I also try to find something practical where I can channel my energy.  Maybe attend a seminar, read a powerful book or listen to a podcast, it’s different for everyone, but finding those core things that motivate you makes all the difference.

We can’t underestimate how important it is to find our PASSION.
